Caramelized Fig, Thyme and Brie Crepes

Remember when I said I had ideas for any leftover crepes you might have?  WELL.

I am a woman of my word.  I’m also a woman who likes: (1) caramelizing things, (2) warm, fragrant herbs, (3) sweet and savory combos, (4) big hunks of brie–the more rind, the better, and (5) occasional decadence.

I mean… Damn.

I can only show you a photo, but this is one of those times when a photo doesn’t feel like enough.  Let’s pretend you can hear the crackling/bubbling of melted sugar and smell the burnt (in a good way!) sweetness, lush ripe fig, and toasty, woodsy thyme.

Charred Corn, Shrimp and Tarragon Crepes

Today, I organized the dickens out of my closet.

Then, I did this in front of said closet:

Then, I organized my pantry and did the same thing there.

Recaulked the tub.  Very similar scene.

Finally, I made these crepes for lunch.  Ditto.

Sometimes it doesn’t take much to feel awesome, and a lunch like this–it really isn’t much.  The crepes part may be a little time-consuming, but it’s worth it.  Not to mention that I’d much rather make 1,000 crepes than spend literally even 8 precious seconds organizing shoes.  Boooorrrring.  This lunch, though?  Not boring.

Biscoff Banana Crepes

Meet the thing that my main squeeze loves, possibly more than me…  It’s cookies in spread form.  So basically, I understand completely.  Maybe that’s why we get along?

It’s totally Biscoff spread!  Speculoos, as it’s known in some parts.  And it’s delicious.  You know how everyone is bonkers for Nutella?  It’s well-deserved and justified.  But, hear me out: I’m certain that Biscoff deserves a place in your heart, right alongside Nutella.  There’s no competition, because we have room for both.  My gosh.

Who isn’t glad that we had both the Rolling Stones and the Clash?  I have a preference, sure, after many years of thinking thoughts and feeling feelings.  I enjoy both, however.

Brandied Peach and Mascarpone Crepes

Remember when we made crepes? Do you have leftover ones?  Did you find yourself saying, “These are fresh-tasting and delicious but far too healthy and booze-free?”  Yeah?  I knew it.  We are friends for life.

Here’s something to consider for your next weekend breakfast.  Or weekday, I suppose.  If you have time to make a breakfast like this on a weekday I’m way, way jealous, by the by.

Summer Vegetable Crepes

Sometimes I drag my laptop into the kitchen with me–sometimes for recipes, sometimes for some tunes.  I love me some tunes.  I don’t know what it is about cooking, but iTunes spits out just the most brilliant shuffle-driven playlists EVER when I’m cooking.  If technology is going to have a human-murdering uprising spree…  We’ll probably have a pretty good soundtrack, which means I’m like 80% okay with it.  Ahem.

So I made you some crepes for breakfast, filled with fresh, delicious end-of-summer sweet corn and zucchini.  And a fried egg.  Oh, and I thought I’d share this rather killer playlist my computer magically concocted for me while I was making them.  Sometimes I swear my iTunes has a humanlike, aesthetically attuned brain and it’s better than mine.
