2012 Favorites!

HOLLA good people.  It’s a shiny brand-new year! Before we dive into it headfirst, though, let’s take a stroll down memory lane.  Everyone is doing it.  Here are the most interesting and delicious posts from this blog in 2012, as judged by, well, me.

1. Creamy Polenta with Roasted Grapes and Chicken Sausage.

Yeah, I was still using a (Speedlight, but still) flash this year.  Gross, I know.  Somehow I thought that this was in the more distant past.  And, working a 9-5 (and then some), I still wrestle with daylight hours or lack thereof; however, this winter, I’ve made it through the shortest days of the year without succumbing to using the cursed thing (well, okay, once), so there’s hope for me yet.

…Sidetrack much?  This polenta/sausage/grape situation is a delicious dinner, you guys.  In any kind of light.

2. Homemade Spiced Chai with Bourbon.

Ain’t nothing wrong with that.  And you can’t get it at Starbucks (I asked).

3. Roasted Carrot, Avocado and Orange Salad.

The only salad on this list.  I whipped up some tremendous salads this year, but to make it on here, this one beat fried pickles (and those were really, really good).  Just saying.

4. Goat Cheese, Blueberry and Chocolate Chunk Ice Cream.

Good heavens, this was insanity.

5. Cherry Limeade Ice Cream.

I made a lot of ice cream this summer.  The heart wants what it wants.

6. Bacon-Jalapeno Jam.

True story: reader Jym used it to successfully make friends.  Bacon=friendship.

7. Tomato and Goat Cheese Tart.

This was dreamy.

8. Butternut Squash and Goat Cheese Tart.

Inspired by #7, and I couldn’t pick which one I liked more.  3/10 of these posts involve goat cheese, which is all anyone needs to know about me.

9. Pear and Gorgonzola Waffles.

Seriously, I want these every day.

10. IPA Cocktails with Aperol and Pomegranate.

In food, drink and life in general, I like things that make you go, “Hmm.”  Especially if they’re pretty.

I can’t wait to recap 2013 already!  Thank you for sticking around, and for being SO VERY RAD.  Also, I drew you a silly picture of my travels this year, because I’m 8 inside and would doodle all day if I could.

All my warmest wishes to you for 2013!  Cheers and XOXO.
